Would you rather buy a discounted share after bad news or good? It just became more attractive to buy and hard to resist after the good. Some traders even got fooled in premarket, especially when sp had been dropping since last close. That's the short MO, sell on news buy on spec. But they're doing so without owning a share so no harm for them. Is it larcenous? Yep

I'd just like regulators to grow a pair and try to stop the NAKED SHORTIG! The Casino wins again today. White collar crime at it's best and we are all witnesses yet nobody does anything about it. Email IIROC...I do constantly.

The reason why there's no short squeeze. The are waiting for the positive news, starts to rise, and the hedge funds work to bring it down
