Saw this at Stocktwits tonight. Made sense I thought. I think it could happen. Posted by Whatever 2020. 

I'm betting FB is the buyer for two reasons. because they need the patents and it's a great way to avoid news of having to pay off a lawsuit to BB. The news will be that FB is the buyer for AT LEAST 3 billion. All they have to do is puff up the price of the patents to include lawsuit money. That is a win win for everybody, including BB.

I like the idea here, beats the Marconi/Teletry theory I think.

Saw it as well, Hedge. Glad you posted. I can't imagine FB is not tied into the patents sale in one form or another. That is to say, I can't imagine they're going to want to be shut down in the EU or pay fair value to a new owner for patents they've been infringing on for better part of a decade... as well as patents that a teletry or other patent expert could monetize at full

Yep Wolf....Saw that post at twits just as I was about to shut down for the night. Woke me up, shot of adrenaline I suppose. What great public relations, forgive FB if deal is satisfactory. Zuck gets to make it look like an investment and Chen gets a chance to appease the sh. That last bit should rile up a few. I wouldn't bet against us joining the Metaverse party in some way. the settlement could be $15B. We dont know. That seems like a massive number to me,..id expect closer to $1 billion. Case #IPR 8209634 involving one of the disputed patents went into "inter partes review" on 10/10/2021. A third party has it now for up to around a year is my understanding. Soooo, reasonable conjecture and pumping are two different things. Imho. We have the former here.

Krumy, wondering if you or anyone with patent law experience may be privvy to general or average length of time from entering 'inter parties review' (approximately 4 months ago) to exit ruling by third party? Also curious as to whether appeals can happen at that stage or if it's the final. I know the troll line that BB lucky to resolve without paying enormous sum to FB, but common

i honestly have no idea for certain how long or to what extent the 3rd party has control over the terms of the settlement, if any...........just as an average Joe makin sense of this,....it appears to not be a foregone conclusion to me that we have heard the last of of it........and since so much hype was tied to the notion of Facebook buying the patents along side the settlement,.....I feel like

but sunce the announcement of the settlement , we have seen FB roll out some very berry things in messenger and such.........i just feel theres more to come on the settlement.

Thanks, Krum. Tend to agree. I'll add that Chen said something to effect that shareholders will be happy. I'm thinking 450 - 600M isn't the happy amount most shareholders had in mind and that we didn't live through 3-plus years of FB suit induced pain for what we've been told so far.
