RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Impact of CSeries on Bombardier
My last bit on this saga, promised!... When P Tellier, then CEO of BBD tried to stop the C Series from taking off, he was fired by LB and was replaced by PB. LB was looking for a puppet and could not get a better one. The rest is history, and no superman could have prevented this disaster. And. this is why, contrarily to Jean Coutu, LB could not step back in to stop PB. Later on AB was handed a sinking ship ( tks to the legacy projects that nobody even realized at the time and to the raging war they declared, without realising it? to the big two). My point is not to diminue these people. PB technical contributions to the succes of BRP was major, mainly by rescuing the seadoo. This does make him a great manager. LB bold decision moving the challenger to the CRJ was a "coup de genie" which changed the regional air traffic. Too bad they let Embraer steal their cash cow by neglecting to upgrade their old models. By rehiring EM ( who was fired by AB) the family at least is sending the right signals. For those who think that there is no hope I would say just imagine what would be left of BBD if they had managed one way or the other ( most likely by gov help) to keep the Cseries! The COVID for BBD-BA represents the light at the end of the tunnel. Funny, also for BRP. And a nightmare for Boeing and AB. May be God is watching? I will continue to average down...because I prefer the Bombardier entrepreneur style, with all its ups and down, to the Desmarais family predators style whose social contribution is far from being comparable. Recognizing that a little bit more of business acumen would be welcome to the BBD group. One day, all of this will be properly documented and a must read at business school. For the benefit of the next generation. I rest my case. GLTA.
