Contrat de 239 M$ Six mois aprs la dcision d’Ottawa de prfrer Boeing Bombardier pour ses avions de surveillance, le gouvernement finlandais a annonc jeudi l’achat de deux appareils Challenger 650 de l’entreprise qubcoise pour patrouiller sa frontire avec la Russie.
«Les nouveaux avions de surveillance augmenteront significativement la capacit de la Finlande en matire de scurit frontalire et maritime, ce qui est important dans l’environnement actuel, difficile prdire», a dclar Matti Sarasmaa, chef du dpartement frontalier et maritime de l'tat-major des gardes-frontires, dans un communiqu.

Les avions seront assembls dans une usine montralaise de Bombardier avant de prendre le chemin des tats-Unis, o y seront intgrs les systmes de dfense. C’est la Sierra Nevada Corporation qui effectuera ce travail.

Les appareils Bombardier, qui remplaceront des avions Dornier 228, doivent entrer en service en 2026 et en 2027.
La valeur du contrat s’lve 163 millions d’euros, soit 239 millions $ CA.

la fin de l’an dernier, la Finlande a ferm tous les points de passage le long de sa frontire de plus de 1300 kilomtres avec la Russie aprs l’arrive de plus de 1000 migrants provenant de pays comme la Syrie et la Somalie.
