Choose and Build The Gripen -- Nose To Tail -- In Canada

Only Bombardier can hit the ground running and do the heavy lifting to build the Gripen domestically -- on Canadian soil, with Canadian workers, and Canadian materials.

Write and call your MP's and MPP's, write your local media, and post anywhere you can... support independence for Canada, and prosperity for Canadians!

The rank and file in the CF know that SAAB is the choice for Canada's needs (environment and role), and our limited CF strength and military budget would see anything else go straight to storage (e.g. the CF-5).

Mission Capabilities, Performance, Capital Costs, and Operating Costs make this the choice for Canada.  The only holdback has been corruption, of the decision makers in Canada, by those that fell victim to wining, dining, and "hospitality" south of the border.

We can always dream...you never know, it might happen... A happy conclusion, like in the Hallmark Christmass movies. That's the kind of present I'd like to have for Christmass...Trudeau announcing that the jets Swedish or american ) will be assembled in Canada, and Eric Martel announcing that Bombardier will assemble them.

I guess with that kind of attitude, we are doomed especially when US is turning to autocracy led by an orangutan.

It is just a question of time. They will insist more and more that we ''share'' ressources, and it would not surprise me at all that one of these days they make us an offer we can't refuse. That could be done by means of a referendum, like in Austria in the thirties. If the referendum is negative, opening up our curtains in the morning, we might see M1 A1 Abrams on our front ...more

BALMUSETTE, SOMEHOW YOU ARE RIGHT,  BUT in my opinion, the 10 prov in canada are already under usa control the fact that canada has a prime minister is just to make facilate us control, canada is not free, all of canada decision are based on usa policy, long time ago, canada was like swiss and take no side in any confilict the only thingcanada would participate in is monitoring peace ...more

Yes Shamorish, our systems are so interrelated that, like you say, there is no escape and we walk in the US shadow. As for being completely free of the american influence, we missed the boat a long time ago.  But still we have the chance to decide for ourselves for quite a lot of things. I hope it stays that way.

You can thank Mulroney for that Conservative decision to make Canada, a US colony. They brought the GST and got rid of Tarrifs. Leave it to the Canadian Govt's to keep taxing us to death, and selling us out to the Americans.

A democracy is way better than a autocracy, but is not foolproof. The nazies took power in Germany by being elected democratically; once in power they changed the rules. An alarming ( for us ) number of americans who voted for Trump are in favor of the US taking Canada; something like 30%. Like senator Mccain said about Trump and his gang '' they woken up the crazies'' I ...more

While there is some similarities in how Nazis rose to power when extreme nationalism abounded and it was mainly due to the treaty of versailles and their being humiliated by the loss of the war and the restitution they were being imposed for starting the war. In the US, the reason while not a war it is truly extreme nationalism that IMO is caused by the ever changing demographics and the white ...more

That's funny Club. The only orangutan we gotta worry about here, is the one you're responding to. We can handle the Trumper. Everyone I speak to, says he'll be back in power the next election. I honestly don't believe that it will happen, for 1 moment. The American public has had enough of these idiot Americans (the GOP), that won't get Vaccinated, and still believe that the ...more

STOP the rape of Canadian industry by "America Inc."  "On February 20, 1959, the Cabinet decided to cancel the Avro Arrow, following an earlier decision to permit the United States to build two Bomarc missile bases in Canada. The company immediately dismissed its 14,000 employees, blaming Diefenbaker for the firings." Bombardier can build the Gripen domestically ...more

Been to Bagotville (CYBG) or Cold Lake (CYOD) and seen the F-18's and Hawks sitting idle on the flight line or waiting for servicing in the hangars?  Ask anyone in coveralls about the shortage of trained pilots or ground support technicians... Canada can't afford any overpriced, oversized, overweight and overhyped F-35 that cries for pampering, and constant care and feeding ...more

Curious if BBD was actually named in the SAAB package as a sub contractor? Believe listing subs was part of the bid requirement.

Now that Boeing is officially out of the picture, I wonder if Canada, taking into consideration the made in US policy and other ante canadian policies, if they have the chutzpah to go with the SAAB version and save a ton of money while getting an economic windfall.     USA is turning to extreme nationalism and will only get worse and IMO will need to expand their ties with many ...more
