A Better Board

A Better Board

Visitors have remarked that this is a very interesting and informative discussion board.

At the same time I can't blame anyone for not wanting to participate here. Those who do try to contribute something of value to share with others don't get the credit they deserve.  There are a few small-minded characters who have committed themselves to downgrading every because the author had the audacity to disagree with them on some issue.

Disagreement is normal. People shouldn't be offended by it. We all have different perspectives, different experiences and different degrees of familiarity with the topics. Disagreement helps us learn and remember things better because we tend to dig a little deeper to back up our contentions.

Hating someone because he, or she disagees with you on something doesn't make sense. We should all be encouraging each other to share because that's how we all get the most value out of this discussion board.

To make a concentrated and persistent effort to discourage anyone is reprehensible, and that kind of behaviour - in the end - will get us exactly what we deserve, and that's a board just like all the others here at Stockhouse where the posts are heavy on emotional bias and light on informed comment.

If you like what someone - anyone - is posting take a few seconds to recommend that post because that encourages the writer to make similar efforts in the future. It gives him, or her some feedback with regard to the kind of stuff you like to see.  Taking a few minutes to compose a response works even better.

There is a small minority who do nothing other than downgrade every post of anyone with whom they may hold a petty grievance. These people discourage not only the writer of the post at hand, but also anyone else reading the thread.

There is a small minority who also would like nothing better than to ruin this discussion board and they make a continuous and concerted effort towards that end. You can stop them by encouraging others to participate by contributing, and you can try to contribute something yourself. Sharing on a board like this is a great way for little investors like you and I to learn something about the industry and the company.

Don't let a few small minds ruin that experience
