Should BBD Be In Defence? - Smush

Should BBD Be In Defence? - SmushSmush: "What do you propose they build and who would be their customers"

I think you can employ your own imagination here. But consider this:

* many developed countries have their own defence industries

* even tiny Sweeden has its own fighter jet

* Embraer, derives a significant portion of its revenues from military aircraft. It builds the Tucano trainer, and a fighter jet which it has sold successfully to other countries.

* Defence is a natural business to accompany aerospace because there's a lot of overlap - particularly in the area of research and development.

* Foreign concerns such as BAE (British) and CGI (Canadian IT Serivces) can sell to U.S. military, so can Bombardier. It may not be easy with Americans particularly sensitive about keeping jobs at home, but then Bombardier already has significant operations in the U.S.

Unmanned vehicles (UAVs) might be one area where Bombardier's talent and expertise could prove productive.
