I know the original post referred to the common B shares. However the pref B track pretty close to the pref D and are more liquid. The pref D can be converted into pref D and vice versa (pref B into D) every five years. Next window is August 2017. The pref B do indeed trade.  The symbol on google finance is TSE:BBD-B, on yahoo finance it is BBD-PB.TO.

Over the last three years, the performance of the pref B vs the common B is about the same as the pref D vs the common B. Post August 2017 the pref B could out perform the pref D if the prime rate moves up in a big way since the rate for the pref D will be locked in on August 2017 whereas the pref B will continue to float.
