Just placed my order

Placed a sell order for 100,000 shares @ $13.00

Can someone explain to me how this works? Does placing the order remove the shares from being borrowed by shorts.

That is the theory, however I have read that brokers will lend out the shares anyway if there is enough demand in the market. Technically, I think, the shares are still owned by the brokerage house so they can do whatever they want with them - within reason. The broker just has to make sure that you get the correct dollar amount in your account by the settlement date when you go to sell them at a ...more

pro, i think you are right if a share is traded at 0.60 and we put a sell order at 2000% i.e 2000% x 0.60 = 12.00, the broker has a lot of room, chances are %99.999999 that this order will not execut on the other hand if a share is traded at 0.60 and we put a sell order at 1.20 or 1.80 that is a 100 or 200% more reasonable than 2000% i think i will change my sell order to range of cdn $1.20-$1 ...more
