Bombardier Inc. > Gripen for Canada ?
View:
Post by clubhouse19 on Nov 26, 2021 10:10am

Gripen for Canada ?

IMO certainly would involve Bombardier since, if chosen, have stated it is to be built in Canada and should be considering the Made in USA policy of the Americans and since Lockheed would only have 20% Canadian content.

Let's hope the Cdn govt puts on its big boy pants also considering the political climate bourne out of American hypocrisy !

i may be wrong, but IMO, canada will always buy fighter jets from USA, they excluded boeing , i.e they will buy fthe Lockheed jet

I hope you are wrong but it is about time Canada sends a message since the GOP is said to take over congress in 2022 and where do you think things will go from there if that happens as the orange orangutan  has his say again in spades. Help us all.
Comment by Shamhorish on Nov 26, 2021 11:46am
imo, canada always walk in USA shadow, i.e not ALLOWED to buy other jets canada may pretend to be independant, but reality is....

I am sure that buying swedish fighters jets would be cheaper than buying the latest technology stealth fighter jets F-35, but it might send the wrong message to the US whose defense capacity we depend so much on. On the other hand, they don't need any excuses when they feel like hitting us with unfair tarifs.

List prices: Gripen 48 millions. F35 180 millions. .

Three for the price of one; and If I remember correctly, they offered that the jets be assembled here. It would be the best deal without a doubt if we were able to defend ourselves as a country without the help of the USA.

I'm with your 'On the other hand' on this matter. If they acted like we were as valued as what they say we wouldn't be having these conversations. Tarifs and 'America first', of course they have to think about themselves first, are a bit extreme since we're the biggest importer of US products and I'm not event talking about Can/US economic integration.  IMHO ...more

Yes,there are good chances that, as you wrote, we'd already have signed with Lockeed Martin. That would be great; staying pal with our giant southern neighbor, and for us BBD shareholders assembling the brand new F-35 s.in Bombardier plants .
