How One Debt-Laden Company Could Create a Storm for Private Jets

Classic FUD (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt). WSJ article this morning Talking about Vistajet bonds trading at 77 cents on the dollar (17% yield) and that they could be forced to sell some aircraft which could in turn negatively affect Bombardier.

I have access to the whole article thru TD but can't post it here as that would be copyright infringement.

Unfortunately, they manage to closely tie Bombardier to Vistajet.

The whole thing is pure speculation of course. When I was in another industry, they (WSJ) would write articles that were like that - appeared factual and well-researched but were in fact either old news and often, speculative. They were often written to benefit one company over another.

In this case, the article clearly favours Vistajet's and Bombardier's competitors.

And , like that, just by chance , they print this '' storm warning '' just two weeks before BBD's earnings date.

Thx for posting that. VJ has been a material risk to Bomba for awhile now. Good to get a bit more info, and for others to be made aware.  I wonder what Martel is doing about the risk, if anything directly.

Bombardier's stock has gained 241% since it slimmed down. But investors might yet regret that all their eggs are in such a small basket.  .....on dirais une menace

By Jon Sindreu  Private jets were a rare pandemic winner in the otherwise decimated travel business. Now that they are coming back down to earth, one heavily indebted operator could give the industry a hard landing.  Based in Malta, privately owned VistaJet grew at breakneck speed after 2019 to become the world's second-largest flier of private jets. But, through complex financial ...more

This is BS about Bombardier.& the WSJ knows it. But this is an American publication, and it's paid to support the US companies like Gilfstream. Why? They're afraid of Bombardier taking over the lead in the BJ Industry again. American publications would come out and tell us anything, to make their industries look fantastic, and the Canadian ones lousy. Tomorrow they could come out and ...more

If it's bs, then please rebutt the points made.  Same for anyone else here.  Would add value to this chat room.  Thanks.

First and foremost, if youre going to tie the fortunes of one company to the challenges of another, you have to provide the fundamental piece of info.: what % of the business does the challenged represent for the unfortunate. Fortunately for us Flexjet has to make SEC filings and we see there that they added 13 jets from Bombardier in 2022 ie they represent ~ 10% of the units.  Proper ...more

Ok Truth. Here is why it's BS. Let's just assume that Bombardier just sold a plane(s) to Vista Jet. Bombardier gets their DOWN payment for the planes from VJ, and then VJ finances the plane order, for the balance. Bombardier doesn't give mortgages to their clients. The airplane is financed by the client using collateral of their assets, and finances the plane through any government ...more

Couldn't ask myself for a better scenario just a few days from release of Q4/annual results. I'm buying.
