Quiet accumulation?

Seems to be going on......5000 shares a few days ago and another 5000 bid today.....after months of very little movement this seems to be a positive development....time will tell.....possible news at next week's YE report? A decision forthcoming? All guesswork for now but we will find out soon.....any advice from the wise group of long term investors? All imho.

Thanks Oneinamillion.  5,000 shares here and there is pretty common for Bek looking at the past.  Sometimes we read more into it than it is.  I doubt anybody knows anything this is the most tightlipped company probably on the TSX.  There is no website, there is no promotion, just  steady like clockwork dividends.  As noted management is quite elderly and its a small ...more

Indeed L. Very hard to find companies that have strong and steady dividends plus special divs. LIF seems like one to me. I am also a fan of ALA (regular and preferred). What do you think of preferred shares (utilities and banks) as a way to go? Not traded much....but neither is BEK.....all imho.

I have had LIF in the past and still own ALA. For utilities I have CPX, FTS, CU and INE.  Banks BNS and the ETF FIE.  On the US side NVDIA, PayPal and a bunch of ETFs ALMP, ARCC.  I also have a lot in the TXF ETF.  As you can see I prefer things that pay a dividend.  Lately added DXT and AD.UN in the past couple of weeks on the Canadian side.  Becker is my biggest ...more

Thanks Charlie....glad to hear you like LIF and ALA. I also own FTS but that's it for me from your list.....held a lot of REITs and Preferred shares until recently. What is your take on pref shares as an asset class? They pay good divs but are thinly traded and not a good place to hide in a downturn. Other than that I think they are good - esp if they are of the rate reset variety.

Thanks Barstool always nice to see what others hold.  Good to see some volume today on Becker.  Haven't see over 10,000 shares traded in awhile.  All the best, Charlie.

Thanks Sage......Wall Financial is one I have been aware of for years but didn't invest in....I think it has been down due to covid; they don't anticipate a "significant recovery until early 2022 at the earliest"....I think their hotel business was impacted by covid. Might be a good post covid play but maybe too soon now imo....not sure if they still are paying out a dividend ...more

Thanks Oneinamillion.  I really don't have much in the ways of preferred shares other than one ETF CPD doesn't move much just like preferred shares, pays a 4.3% dividend other than that its not too exciting.  All the best, Charlie.
