Storage report

Natural gas storage report for week ending Sept 23 is 103 Bcf.  The cummulative amount in storage for the year is 318 Bcf below the five year average.

It will be interesting to see when we begin to draw on storage for the winter.

Powerburn should increase along with the recent drop in natural gas prices and the consistently high steam coal prices. My guess is that some who have shorted gas futures are just taking advantage of some decent storage injections expected over the few weeks and the fact that the impact on injections cause by increased powerburn will take a couple weeks to show up in the weekly figures.

The Freeport LNG is scheduled to be back in business the first part of November.  Would you know how this will affect supplies?  Seems reasonable to think nat gas will stay pretty solid over the winter.

There is no question this was political . Freeport had planned to be back up and running months ago , it was only a fire in a piperack (bad valve) but then the regulator jumped in and wanted everything checked . Tanks , piping , gaskets , valves , the coffee machine , everything needed to be recertified before any restart would be allowed .  Now I know of 3 refinery fires in just the past ...more

I wonder if the RV (relief valve) was omitted by mistake on the PM (preventative maintenance) schedule which would may be a reason for the delay.  I 100% agree they could have been up and running a long time ago.
