I do not know all the salient terms of BPY's loan agreements, but I would agree that the non-recourse nature of their debt is by definition, preparing for armageddon.  The course each default takes or what specific provisions are in each loan agreement is beyond me.  But I would say, Brookfield (formerly Brascan) in the early 90's had debt issues which almost bankrupted them and my viewpoint would be that they protect themselves very well after their near death experience 30 years ago.  As I have said, I would never short Bruce Flatt.
