or a loan.    I think they mature, are not perpetual.    This way you can call the dividends as interest and expense it off............ and pay LESS TAX.

Oh wait, I think they call/refer to them as Perpetual Capital some times.

What would happen to the other BPO prefs if they redeem the "A"s. Perhaps unlikely but would be a pleasant surprise.

You would think all of the other BPO prefers would rocket up, as if the A's redeemed, then most likely the others would be redeemed also.   But STRANGELY, if you look at other companies (for example the banks) when they redeemed their prefers, I don't think the others rocket up to $25.   I don't think there's much effect on the others. REALLY, strange.

but hey, what happen to Reset prefer share prices over past 2 years (during rising rates) was strange. And the market just coming around to realizing this "mistake", realizing that these will "RESET" and PAY MORE IN DIVIDENDS is just coming to light.   REALLY STRANGE, it took/taking so long for people to realize. actually there has been a positive effect on the Bank prefers triggered by the first TD redemption about 4-5 months ago. The redembption pulled the bank prefs out of the hole. Personally I liked it better when all the prefs were in the hole cause my cash flow was more relative. The increase in price for me is just eye candy cause I reinvest and compound. my barometor is the cash flow, not price

Haven't recently looked at Banks Prefers, I was just going by "memory".    But if you say the redemption had effect on the other prefers, it would make sense.    I couldn't follow the rest of what you were saying. For me, I'm expecting to make most of my money through gains on share price.  I'm expecting to make about 100% just off of gains on ...more
