Here we go. Yes we will.

Over the last 20 years the Canadian preferred share market has posted a negative return four times. 2008, 2015 and 2022 were some of the biggest down years. In every single case the pref market recovered in the following years. For example, following a rough year in 2008, the preferred share market rallied 27% in 2009. So, history was on our side for a price recovery.

LFG! IMHO, if ZIRP is truly dead and buried and rates normalize at levels that give fixed income a fair return -- which I believe will be the case -- prefs can run higher for longer and should vie for best asset class in 2024 and hopefully, a less volative space in future years.

Thank you wynner for the link. Of course I totally agree with his line: "... we continue to view preferred shares as an important component within a diversified portfolio"

Hi Wynner, Thanks for the Link ....I have enjoyed Ryan Lewenza's commentaries for years....he is an excellent guy to read or listen to. I bought my first rate reset pref shares in 2012 and never dreamed these would be such volatile securities.  Nonetheless, they have been a great and rewarding ride. Carena
