RE:RE:Sao Francisco accepted by Belo as a new neighbor

RE:RE:Sao Francisco accepted by Belo as a new neighbor In March 2023, Belo Sun Minerao Ltda. filed the PBA-CI Work Plan regarding the Paquiamba and Arara da Volta Grande Indigenous Lands.

On July 27, 2023, DPDS/FUNAI sent Official Letter No. 1636/2023 in response to Belo Sun Minerao Ltda. regarding questions regarding the progress of the project's environmental licensing, especially based on the understanding that there would be no violations in the planned removal of the So Francisco village as it is not Indigenous Land (see Official Belo Sun of July 12, 2023) . FUNAI stated that the "So Francisco village is a land claim of the Juruna (Yudj) indigenous people for demarcation of land or indigenous reserve, which is partially qualified, registered by NUP 08620.016324/2018-10" and that "information was requested from the Funai's Territorial Protection Directorate regarding the land qualification procedure of the indigenous occupation called So Francisco village, in order to support possible consultation with the Specialized Federal Attorney's Office on the feasibility of removing the indigenous community, as provided for in the Study of the Indigenous Component"
