You have day traders who will buy just before earnings and if all goes well (the SP goes up) they will take their profit the day earnings are announced. It can pay off well if all works out. BTE may experience the same as it has been climbing the last two days ahead of earnings and could very well see selling just after earnings. Its causes extreme volatility in the stock but its just part of the game.
