Ian UpdateIan is still moving slowly west-northwest at 12mph , it is just coming over the warmest water in the Caribbean which will define and strengthen Ian in the next 24 hrs . The slower it moves over this area , the stronger it will become which is scary for western Cuba and the eastern Gulf . NOAA still has Ian curling into the Florida panhandle but that track can change at any time . As it stands , effects could be felt from the Keys to New Orleans . The further west Ian tracks , the more it "should" effect O&G markets .
That BP (Ohio) refinery is still down so any further loss of refining capacity will seriously squeeze gasoline and diesel supplies . If Ian travels through the offshore O&G fields , that will also curtail both oil and nat gas production . I know the market has prices on the run but eventually physical realities will no longer be able to be hidden or ignored .
