Some folks kept pumping,,,,,pumping the hype for Q1 earnings.....  to be met with such disappointment  !!!   Then sarcastically, they will probably pump again for Q2 earnings ...

Exactly what was so disappointing?  They spent $154 million of capex in q1 with a target to high range of $500 for the year, increased clearwater production from 3kboe to 8kboe thats not in their q1 report but now in effect. Decreased net debt to 1.28 billion from 1.41  and on target to hit under 900m net debt by end of year.   So exactly how was it disappointing?  Because the ...more

If you listen to the call when Eric asks the question, he asks Baytex if they will be doing a 75/25 split in 2023 and compared cve returning 100 percent. Did they tiptoe around the question, a little. They are not commiting to it just yet as they want to see their position and how it unfolds next year. Do read some postings in yahoo finance BTE board....  Various posters felt CEO & CFO are overly conservative, hence leading to disappointing response to Q1 release...     Just compare the comments from posters for how shareholders resonse to  CVE Q1 release vs BTE Q1 release...   Why not answer a direct question from their largest shareholder (Eric) with a ...more

Forecast I still don't see where this negatively impacts me....maybe traders and flippers but with my long position through June 30, 2023...this noise if anything helps me. 1. So your telling me people are upset the management team is not "pumping" a future event? I'm ok with that WCP doesn't pump either I am ok with that too 2. Let me have a crack at this Wolf , for starters , the only way Q1 was a disappointment would be if you bought at $7.05 yesterday expecting a pop today for a quick flip . I will admit when I first saw the FCF number , my first thought was WTF !!!!! BUT , as I stated multiple times already I continued reading and discovered the capex investment .
