Market just putting it off for now lol. Rewarding itself for getting what it was expecting from the Fed today.

I had this concept in a post yesterday , I never heard Powell's commentary of Q&A but by the look of the market they are happy it was 50 , not 75points and the comments must have been classified as more dove-ish than hawk-ish

Td, as I expected JP had to be less agressive. You have midterms coming. JP ruled out getting even more aggressive. Great for oil prices "Stocks jumped on Wednesday in a relief rally from their 2022 doldrums after the Federal Reserve raised rates by a widely anticipated half percentage point and Chairman Jerome Powell ruled out getting even more aggressive in the central bank’s inflation ...more

Point taken Re:midterms Wolf although I don't think he is really interested in tipping over the "economy" cart . All in all , it was a good May the 4th , lol

Td, we are moving from "transitory" to "soft landing" I have a feeling I am going to get tired of that term very quickly lol

It is going to be a great May. Markets hate uncertainty, what lit the fire was asking if we could get a .75 increase Fed said Na , 35 Vix markets were more then concerned of a fat increase dropped on them.

Cobalt, it is interesting I listened to two different people today one on cnbc and one on Bloomberg US who both said summer could be more active than spring. The old sell in May could be premature...seems to be a contrarian view now. 2022 is certainly unique for oil and gas. Q2 reports for all Cdn O&G companies will be off the charts. You think Q1 was impressive...all names will rock Q2. What& ...more

I know everyone has heard this said before but I truly believe "this year is different" , especially in the O&G sector . I'm not selling anything this May

Good for oil prices but Powell is an idiot.  When oil prices spike and inflation jumps he will be jacking up rates higher than he said.  He is no Volcker.
Comment by Cobalt on May 04, 2022 4:59pm
FYI he is tring to contain some core inflation Not Energy Not Food he does not have the tools for that, some are even thinking we have peaked on inflation he can control , year over year we start to comp very high rates.
