Baytex Energy Corp > Greager would have been in the loop ...

Greager would have been in the loop ...

... to the block trade. I actually believe he was instrumental in having the Juniper shares placed in strong hands in the most orderly way ... a block trade.

Greager made it very clear that he had a good relationship with Juniper and assured us they would work with him to move shares if they decided a dispostion was the route they wanted to go when the first  tranche came free.

It seems to me the trade already completed on the 18th and the 3 day settlement would be tomorrow as they indicated.

??????He said they would not sell in his first interview on BNN!!

The interview I watched ... Greager said he felt they would hold but if they did decide to sell they would work together with Greager to get it done in an orderly way.

Greager said "we will work together with them to help them move their position if that's what they chose to do" Greager then said to think of Junier as a dumper of shares would be wrong headed. Juniper did not dump shares in the open market. It was an orderly disposition and the buyers clearly see significant upside from this level.

Yes I remember it too Freddie.  You are right. Greiger did acknowledge that they MIGHT be inclined to sell and he would assist. ok fair enough.

Masfortuna ... I see no value in misrepresenting what Greager said about Juniper when it came to the potential of them liquidating shares. Others leave out the part where he qualified it. No idea why they leave that part out.Axe to grind with Greager? As for arranging an SIB. Does anybody here know the regulatory procedure for doing so? Seems to me it's not a straight forward one line ...more

As I said Freddie. I corrected my initial statement after rereading the NR.

And I too remember him saying that Juniper will hold on to their shares. Oh well I guess. On a different note, Greiger could have organized a share repurchase/cancellation with Juniper. I think we have bough well over 20 million shares since June. Maybe buying Juniper's shares and then cancelling them would have made more sense?
Comment by riski on Sep 20, 2023 9:36am
It's a good thought and certainly would have been doable with the money used for buybacks so far plus some debt. I do believe that Greager was well aware that Juniper was going to sell the moment they could as they were likely the ones pushing for the BTE/Ranger deal. They were stuck in the Ranger investment and wanted to move on to something else. They owned too much of Ranger and needed a ...more
