The old investment adage for the forestry indistry still applies though, escpecially since the market is more concentrated, and that is buy when market capacity is coming off and sell when capacity is coming on.  B.C. will shut a number of its mills in the next 6 months and that's the time to buy, after the market's initial knee jerk reaction.

Good point on cycle timing.  I like the adage.  Perhaps it applies to any commodity manufacturing or natural resource industry.  Capital Cycle 101. The questions are, how long will it take to turn, and how much cheaper will it get? Thanks for posting your comments.  I agree with you. I think there will be a recession and housing along with forestry stocks will continue to get hit. The question is how long and deep will the recession be? Trading lumber stocks is not for the faint of heart due to the lumber super-cycle, but the top 5 (WFG, CFP, WY, IFP, LPX) have never had stronger balance sheets. The lumber market is ...more
