RE:RE:NEB say peak energy 2018!!

That's absurd. You honestly think you're more aware of what's happening than scientists who have been trained to look at the facts?

If the Earth were going through a cooling phase, scientists wouldn't be saying anything other than "hey the world is going through a cooling phase". The problem isn't the natural cycles of the planet, the problem is that human activity is causing the planet to warm at rates that endanger the ecosystems we depend on. The Earth has been warmer than it is now. That was fine. It's the speed, and ecosystems' inability to adapt to it that is cause for concern. Beyond that, pollution sucks. I have asthma, Smog days suck. Thousands of people die every year because of pollution. Thousands more die due to secondary issues caused by pollution. Why wouldn't we try to change that?

In 200 years they'll look on fossil fuels the same way we look at smoking now. The technology isn't quite there yet, but it's close.

One thing that I have always wondered about? If the Earth was acually going through a temporary cooling phase would the scienists be calling for everyone to ditch solar and wind power, develop dirty engines for cars and burn all the coal we can?
I'm thinking they would skew the computer climate modelling to get the exact same theories as now.
