Does anyone know the average price per barrel of oil this Q?

I am thinking about 77-78. If that's so how does that compare to last quarter for the company and will that bode well for earnings this time round?
Comment by lnggasfor202324 on Jun 27, 2024 3:40pm
I'd be suprised to see oil average under $80 for the 2nd qtr.
Comment by lnggasfor202324 on Jun 27, 2024 3:46pm
Now the person looks like the moved the block up to $6.80 playing chicken on the run.

Average price for Apr-May for WTI is $83.74 USD.  June isn't known as it isn't finsished yet but if you average in a price of $75 USD for June which is on the low side you get around $80 USD for Q2. Should bode better for earnings as Q1's average was around $77.56.  The spread on WCS should be just as good if not better too. That being said don't expect too much.  ...more

Thanks Q.  I'm learning to be fine with the sub 7 price even though I'm down from my initial trade at 7.10. But with a 2-3 year horizon I am learning not to worry about the fluctuations. Dividend is covering the slight drop just fine.

You are so going to get that capital back in spades.  If you can average down when given those low share price  opportunities take them.  You're yielding over 10% practically guaranteed now by the increased credit facility with what I believe is at least 30% upside in share price in a year maybe two.  Sit back and collect your divy and maybe swing your ACB down ...it's ...more

If you don't need the cash from the div set up a DRIP.   q2 should be good. Oil up, discount down. Production up, .73 dollar!!
Comment by Quintessential1 on Jun 28, 2024 10:59am
I think DRIPs can be benificial especially if the company offers the plan and a discount.  I don't think Cardinal offers its own DRIP plan so the only benifit is the saved brokerage fees if you have any.  Thats why I think you can beat the DRIP as they don't always buy at the most opportune time for shareholders.  If  you have time to hold and follow the stock and buy ...more

I see cj on the list of Canadian drop eligible companies. Just google for the list link as it won't let me post it on here. I'm set up with drip through td.
Comment by Quintessential1 on Jun 28, 2024 2:13pm
Yeah most dividend stocks are DRIP eligible through your broker but not all are DRIP eligible through the company that supplies the shares itself.  The difference being that the brokerage DRIP will be fee free but the corporate DRIP will be fee free and usually has a discount on the share price paid with the dividend of sometimes up to 5% meaning you get more shares while doing nothing.  ...more

You are correct Q. I verified with cardinal via email. Its a synthetic drip and their real drip was suspended in 2017 to reduce dilution. So they pay in cash and then TD reinvests it for me with no trading fee.
Comment by Quintessential1 on Jun 28, 2024 3:50pm
Yeah I kind of thought so and DRIPing through the brokerage is not a bad way to go if your are too busy to stock watch but if you have the time,  I think you can do better than TD will do for you even with you brokerage fees attached and you keep control and have the fun of buying.  Let's face it you're kinda watching the stock anyway.  You can even save up monthly dividies ...more

Keep in mind it's the WCS pricing
Comment by Quintessential1 on Jun 28, 2024 4:02pm
I did mention that the spread narrowed which should make it better for CJ. Also when CJ does its Future Estimates in their corporate presentation they use WTI pricing as a reference benchmark. GLTY and all
