Banks thrive in an environment where interest rates go up even though FED is trying to slow the ecomomy?  I'm looking into diversifying away from some energy and tech holdings i have

For dividends and potential growth I'd look at CIBC for sure.  T/D and  BNS would also be good because they derive substantial income from USA and South American.  The analysis push R/Y but personally I think their room for increase is limited because of the number of shares outstanding.  However the choice is yours..
