RE: RE: Met Coal settled at U$ 310 for Q3The main reason the mine closed is that CF & I stopped making steel in Pueblo, because at that time it was cheaper to import semis ( slabs & billets ) than to produce steel themselves. Then and over timecoal prices fell to levels that made coal production uneconomical. The closing of the mine had nothing to do with coal quality. Period.
We will soon find out what kind of price level can be generated. Let's wait and see, not speculate.
