RE: Coking coal quality RATINGS...That's very useful information Eigen, thanks for posting it here. Of course all BOF steel mills blend their coking coal to best fit their coke oven parameter. I know some mills that use around 7 different coals in this blending process and have heard that some use 20 and even more different coal types when blending " their " own mix.

From discussions i have had in the past with people in the know i can say that the New Elk coal that came from the Allen seam was considered one of the best and cleanest coking coals available in North America.
