I don't think there is something wrong with the quality of the coal; this mine was feeding the steel mills for years until the mills went with electric arch furnaces making steel from tailings rather than using met coal, a process which was introduced in the States due to a lot of steel from the junk yards, a luxury that developing countries do not have and have to rely on met coal. The problem is that the market is awash with met coal of all kinds. According to Platts, it seems all kinds of met coals, hard , semi soft and pci, are on the rebound. And I don't think they will have any problem selling their coal once the markets get going. The question is how you survive during the transition period, and here you need good management with a vision, and CMK, unfortunately fell far too short on that.
