I don't know who this coalmnr is but I think he has a VERY strong tie to the mine. How could anybody work for that mine. You can't trust anyone that still works there. I have been told that the theft is bad there. The management lies and doesn't stand behind the contracts that have been given to the workers. That mine needs to get rid of the top people there and bring in someone that knows mining. Why would anyone work for a company that has a spot contract for a 1000 tons. Sounds like another smoke and mirrors or just more money to get the workforce there for one more year. That mine lost some of the best miners around compared to the ones there trying to run that mine. They are the bottom of the barrel miners compared to what was there at one time. Watch out for this mine!!!!!

Colominer4life, I have no ties to the mine whatsoever, I did work at the mine for some time. I was one of the unfortunate workers that got laid off. All the information that I share here is nothing but true statements that have been proven to be true. I share whatever comes out on the local newspaper or other local media. Coalmnr, I totally understand what you say. There are some good miners there still. It's the upper management that has to move on. The lies and stealing has to stop. I know for a fact that there is a lot of reserves at this mine. If they would start over and get new management I would love to see this mine be successful. Until that happens it's a bad place to be.

First of all the miners down there and they know who I am talking about are back stabbing theives and liers. If you say that you double check your info then you know for a fact that I speak the truth. Maybe you are the idiot and like the smoking mirrors. You don't seem to see far beyond your nose pal; some of the things you're saying may be true. But if you think you know the solutions to the problems of this mine, why don't you write them a letter and show them the way. And if not that, this board is an open forum publish them here and I am sure they'll get the message sooner or later. Tell them, for instance how to secure a sales

My wisdom: like I have said the management at New Elk needs to go. Not once have I said anything about the production and the cost to mine the coal. With new management and a company that knows a thing or two about mining it would improve. Has New Elk ever had someone to sell coal? You can't send steam coal for Met coal market. I know the bates mine isn't in the met coal quality yet
