This, more so, than there being an enduring lack of demand, which is true to some extent.
The demand will not come back as quickly as previously thought but it's offest by the Russo-Saudi -OPEC+ deal to restrict production to match what they see as the returning volume the market will demand. 
Obviously there's a lot of guesswork in calculating future demand at this time, when many 'workers' from home may never go back to their offices or use transit.

I agree they are suprised by the 2nd wave. Then 2nd wave wasn't suppose to come until later this year when it gets colder out.
