Cenovus Energy Inc > AER sees bitumen volume growth

AER sees bitumen volume growth

Alberta Energy Regulator predicts production of raw bitumen will grow to 4 million barrels per day in 2033, up from the 3.4 million barrels per day that was produced last year.

Alberta regulator projects 17 per cent growth in oilsands production by 2033

Most of the growth is expected to come not from oilsands mines, but from in situ operations, which use steam to loosen up the oil deep below the surface of the earth.

No surprise there...most of the bitumen that can be accessed by mining now turns out to be way too deep/expensive and require such long timelines to remove the overburden that no investors/partners can be found to finance them.....Teck's proposed Frontier mine is the poster child for that reality.

Honestly skip the open pit mine and go SAGD.

Agreed.  A lower cost per barrel by proven masters of wielding the technology makes it a no brainer. GLTA
