It is unethical and immoral to sell short and then manipulate the stock price through smear campaigns and manipulative trading activities which is rather obvious. It is interesting what you say about put options having the same affect as short selling and your buddy (assumed) CNIvesting is touting the benefits to longs of hedging by buying put options. Kind of like shooting yourself in the foot to
