Predictive Active Suspension

One would assume that the same tech that puts all that realistic 'feel' into to the road for a race simulator could also potentially be used to "smooth out" the road in a luxury vehicle like a Bentley or limousine (not so much in a Ferrari though)!

I did a little research and lo and behold - the new Audi A8 - uses actuators in the suspension system and a road camera to do exactly that!

I have no idea if D-box has persued this avenue of business - but if not - why not? And given that the electric cars of the future will virtually drive themselves - would this tech not fit nicely into that scenario? - smoothing out the bumps in the road so it feels like you are floating on air!

I agree. I sent D-box emails suggesting this application for their technology about a year ago. I call it motion cancellation as it would work in a similar way to noise cancelling headphones by triggering an instant and opposite actuator response to bumps on each wheels thereby smoothing out the ride. Here is a link to one company that has been developing this technology for years.  https ...more

Good press release from clear motion about 6 months ago. Sounds like many tech and auto companies are working on this and hopefully D-Box is getting involved in some way.

Sorry folks. I can’t seem to get that link to work. So just go to clearmotion.com, select Press, and click on the April 20/20 press release to watch the video embedded in a Wall Street Journal article.

This link may work (hopefully) Imaxfan. https://www.wsj.com/video/motion-sick-this-tech-company-thinks-it-might-have-a-solution/0B44E53B-FFF6-48F3-B4F4-581E8D22763A.html What intrigues me most is the truck, tractor and heavy equipment seats that are in development. The market for them is huge I am sure!  Take Care All
