2+2+2=?It just don't add up. Little wave of insider selling (thanks, Smooth, for gathering the info in your 24/10 message) + market mania following a press release that didn't say anything the pros don't already know + puzzling PP.
Press release: The increase over previous valuations is explained by a combination of a more statistically robust sample (some 10,000 carats) and rising large rough diamond prices. The trend in samples has been fairly flat: therefore the new valuation is mostly due to rising prices (everybody already knew this).
The valuation announcement was material, but timing suggests playing into the PP price. Hard to see it as a coincidence. But this still leaves the insider selling unexplained. My guess: they see current price as a little bubble, to come down to due tax loss selling (or maybe something bad coming). Sold because waiting to sell into the bubble would have been too obvious.
But this is all speculation. Essentially, its a mystery. Until I figure it out, I'm out.
