Mining companies will Sue
NAFTA free trade agreements will be violated. So Mexico will lose not only the mine, the resource, the jobs, the education and community development, all the taxes, but they will lose additional billions in legal cases and literally turn NAFTA and any near shoring on its ear. Panama is learning this the hard way. So to say mining harms the environment of the high desert (without giving any proof) when the resource may be only a few meters under the surface and like another poster stated forsaking the huge socio-economic gain. You literally are shafting every Mexican citizen by this non debated one person (Almo) decided non issuance of open mine permits. Claudia really needs to say something and soon. Just my opinion.

Addressing these issues requires careful consideration of legal implications, environmental sustainability, and community development. It's important for all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue to find balanced solutions that benefit both the economy and the environment.

I agree and apologize. My intent was factual not adversarial. The Almaden minerals case is based on permits that were rejected long before Almo took office because of indigenous people. They had nothing to do with open pit mining per se.
