I note that the document associated with Application number 14/423602 contains multiple paragraphs beginning with "A monitoring and control system". Granted, it is not entirely clear, at first glance, what exactly one is looking at when navigating the patent website.
Is it possible that the relevant application was not for the hydragen system itself, but for the montioring system which serves the purpose of optimizing the ratio of hdrogen to fuel? I will try to find time to look into it in more detail, but it did not seem crystal clear to me that the first application was for the Hydragen product itself, as you suggested.
I know that in the drug field, you might be asked to split your Application into separate claims and perhaps there was something like that which occurred here. None of this speculation addresses the concerns with disclosure by management, of course.
