Consumables (tubing, distilates, etc.) to RRTs what printer cartridges are to printers.

Big money to be made by the ultimate owner of the N.A. DIMI rights.  Smarter business model, IMO, that having patients futz around with their home water systems, Reverse Osmosis machines, risking contamintion, reducing mobility etc.  (e.g. what if a PD pateient wanted to travel? use in bed or while watching TV, or in their backyard?)

No wonder Dr. G keeps calling it game-changing technology.

It's good that the first two players into HHD are having to spend alot of time & $ ironing out all the insurance related red-tape, over-coming Nephrologist loss of control (via Clinic), etc. .

Nephrologists cannot deny that a patient getting daily treatment (eg a few hours, or at night) will produce much better results than having patients schlepp into a Clinic (risking Covid) only 2 -3 times per week.

In the end, it will be about ease of use, ease of installation, portability, better outcomes, lower cost, and remote monitoring.

The Big 10 certainly know this.  I wonder how many are kicking the tires while awaiting FDA reviews?  I wonder how many would rather not have their competiton control game-changing technology?

MM
