RE:Bitcoin

RE:Bitcoin
Ronnie,

Ha - as a work related (IT) hobby i mined some BTC many years ago mostly because of the cool tech part about being able to generate something with a gpu that you could translate into $$$.  One could also have some pot ExpressPost to them for a lot of BTC's (or so i heard).   I was amazed to sell some for ~$10 - i had mined them a while before that and it was something like a 10-20 bagger.  if it's a normal bitcoin wallet, he has endless attempts - i think it's a secondary security wall that is his problem.  I saw the story in the NYT.

but yeah, unlike a physical wallet that if lost and can be found by someone else and used.  once a digital one is deleted - those coins can never be used again.  It must happen a lot - i also mined a whole bunch of other currencies - most were worthless at the time.  maybe a couple survived - who knows - so many cropped up and disappeared/no longer traded.  There were probably ~25 cryptos at any given time.  i have no idea what it's like now.

i would not mind cryptos at all as the technology and math is intriguing but it's the incredible amount of wasted energy that is disgusting.
