Bitcoin

Today for a couple hours the thought flitted through my mind that I should sell some EDV and buy Bitcoin!  Now if that isn't a contrarian indicator I don't know what is.  Like in 1979 when gold was spiking up , and secretaries in N America, and elsewhere perhaps, were lined up at the gold shops during their lunch breaks buying gold.  That ended badly when gold peaked in January 1980, and then fell ,more or less, for  20 years.  So the new saying was: 'When the secretaries are buying, it is time to be sell".  (just to be correct secretaries can be male or female so that isn't necesarily sexist)  So if I am thinking ( actually I quickly came to my senses) , that if I am buying , selling is something to consider.  I read a couple days ago that a new Canadian ETF , on the TSX will start selling paper Bitcoin.  First in the world.  So that will make it very easy to get your gambling fix.  I read today that Nigeria was added to the list of countries banning Bitcoin in all forms.  India had already officially done that, as have a number of other countries. The big question is what China does.  So be careful.

It is just very hard to sit here and nothing happens.  I love the adrenalin rush of the share price screaming higher.  Next time it does I am going to make sure I realy really enjoy it.

Anyway, I hve been dipping my toe into the Cyrto currency market (Bitcoin adn Ethereum) for the past tear or so...but oddly for the same reason I am buying gold. However, gold (and silver and gold mining ...more

as i've mentioned, i have some btc out there that i mined as a side IT hobby.  kinda crazy to think about - i was laughing selling them for $5-$10. were fun days.   i don't even want to go back and figure out how many. if for no other reason, i hope BTC dies sooner than later - it's a ridiculous waste of energy. "Cambridge researchers say it consumes around 121.36 ...more

Yes the electricity usage is probably the biggest reason why governments should ban the making of new bitcoins.  So many companies that use lots of electricity are going green.  Amazon recently bought part of a huge wind farm, off Denmark I think it was, that will power all their European buisness.  It really surprises me that China lets so much Bitcoin be made there and so much ...more

Looks like Bitcoin is this weeks , or perhaps months, big thing.  For a couple weeks it was that Gamesomething.   I had some time so this is what I found. For Bitcoin it seems to take 50,000 kwh to make one coin.  I have no idea how accurate the person who figured this is. He sounded smart.  In a low electricty cost place that would be $5,000 worth of electricty.  Everyone ...more
