spoke to IR todaySpoke to IR today and found out that our CEO is in Turkey now and it sounded like he had already met with the local political leader so we should get a better idea on damage control by next week. The mine is still running but IR has no idea how any type of shutdown would be implemented or if it will ever be implemented at all. There are still many unknowns but there is little doubt that the mine will be given the green light again we just don't know when. I asked about the article posted here about people being poisoned and was told that it has nothing to do with Kisladag. There was a contaminated well some distance from the mine and no way did it come from Kisladag. I couldn't find that post so Stockhouse may have been removed it from the bullboard.
Earnings will be released at 5 AM on the morning of Aug 3 with a conference call scheduled for later that morning. We were already told that on an operational basis that the mines were running flawlessly. There were no issues.
Also there is ongoing environmental monitoring going on and there have been no issues there. When the mine started operations it received a temporary environmental approval for the first year and just a few months ago it received the permanent environmental approval. If there had been environmental issues the permanent approval wouldn't have been issued. Apparently this information is public in Turkey but I don't read Turkish.
We will all receive an update by next week. Lets hope our CEO makes good progress.
We may also receive updates on the feasibiliy study for Efemcukuru and the iron ore project in Brazil.
I feel like the butterfly in the commercial who is happily flying along. Just bought a stock - price is rising, life is good then out of nowhere it gets gobbled up by a frog. Didn't see that coming. If you watch BNN you'll know the commercial I mean. Ouch.
