All of a sudden

Toyota announced that they will be changing over to a solid state long life battery for their ev's.
So, all of a sudden about ten manufacurers are bragging about their solid state batteries. Not only solid state but made to last forever. Are these claims to be believed?
It seems that I read in an EFL info piece that just to test its Infinity version took forever and remains ongoing.
Someone is blowing smoke, and personally I do not believe it is EFL.
Too bad we're not scaled up enough to supply a major EV mfg. Plus, it would require real deep pockets.
Let's hope that 'slow and steady wins the race' still applies.
We can also dream about someone like Toyota acquiring Electrovaya.

You Know,  that Toyota has been building a battery plant in North Carolina for over a year now.  The thing is, they have never said who's battery cell thet were going to produce.  They certainly do not have one of their own.  Battery plants have a lot of infrastructure in commom so it is possible to start construction without having the final cell decided on.  Toyota ...more

SH2008, What a wonderful potential outcome to ponder. When I initialy read about Toyota's plans, I saw words like ceramics and versions of long life etc. I said to myself  'What about EFL's proprietary and patented technologies?'. I did own stock in a company that had a unique product with many patents. A bigger fish wanted what they had and just ignored the patents. That was ...more

MaterialsMan,  Take a look at the previous presentation (Maybe in the May 4th one also)  you will notice Electrovaya talks about three new cells.  One, a hybrid cell that has a semi-solid (Partly liquid) electrolyte.  Two, a conventional solid state cell with Cathode, seperator and anode.  Three, a cell with a cathode and ceramic seperator and no anode.  Never heard ...more

Stockholder2008, Afraid I don't have a technological bent. At least not near to the exent you seem to have. I have spoken with Jason a couple of times on the phone. He's good to talk to. He is very careful regarding what he discloses, but, if you do speak to him, I think you will be able to detect positive vibes. I would love to know what kind of a deal might come down if Toyota does make ...more

Toyota is an excellent negotiator.  Historically they refused to use someone else's battery and stuck with their own and used a scaled back battery. ie Preius.  Electrovaya is a good negotiator and knows what they have and it's value.  I suspect negotiations have been ongoing for some time now.  If Electrovaya actually has 3 good solid state cells and that is a big IF ...more

I just don't know !  It might be a lisence, a joint venture on a cel/modulel production plant or it could be an outright purchase of one of the ss cells.  I just have not heard a peep.  In any case I don't believe we will hear untill NASDAQ is a reality.  They need to be established on the NASDAQ first.

Stockholder2008, Thanks for your input.  The NASDAQ thing would have merit. If that were to take place, I would expect to see minimum one for five.  It would seem that any info pertaining to this subject that may significantly affect the SP would require a trading halt. A decision on Toyota's part may take a while. Plus, it might be unlikely for them to commit  to one technology ...more
