RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:So ashamed to live in small town BCThe vast majority of the "medical/scientific/public health" experts are supportive of the shut downs. These actions are not designed to eliminate the virus but protect hospital capacity. If hospital capacity is overwhelmed the death rate (which while higher than the seasonal flu is not too bad on a relative basis) will shoot up. The simple fact is many people survive Covid due to extreme medical intervention.
History may show that this was not the correct action. However, the probability that this is the most optimal option is greater than those espoused by the likes of the people protesting at the Toronto BBQ, Trump rallies and the various anti government proponents.There is no painless way to deal with the pandemic.
I guess we will get a better appreciation of the validity of this action in 2 weeks, out of the USA. A significant portion of the population did not follow public health guidelines regarding travel and group gatherings. Hopefully, they will not reap what they sow..............
Politics is politics and the truth is malleable based on your political viewpoint. However science is striclty based on the facts and the truth is the truth.
