Vern Yu Letter

to Govenor of Michigan is a good read and one can get it from a link in the Yahoo news. Warning very boring abd it is 7 pages of refuted Michigan's claims. well written and the lawyers no doubt had a big part in approving the letter. I do not believe Line 5 will be shut down and I believe Enbridge will prevail. Enbridge is right this is a political stunt versus anything to do with science etc etc. Good read.

youknow I read the letter. IMO, ENB's weak point in their arguments remains III. Claims re Curvature. Unlike other sections of the letter, ENB does not openly refute the existence of violations of bend radius, which is disappointing. It thus appears highly likely that the pipeline fails to meet this criterion of the easement. What possible actions ENB can take to correct it is unknown. I ...more

Curvature: You have to know engineering design to determine whether this is a safety issue or a t legal/political issue.  When this line was built 50 yrs ago, engineering methods and precision was less than now.   To compensate for this, significant saftey/conservative designs were implimented.  If curvature is the issue, then I would expect it to be well within safety limits ...more

Dapper This is almost certainly a legal/political issue rather than a safety matter. And yes, Bechtel is ultimately liable as it managed engineering, procurement, and construction of the line. That said, if the line is not in compliance with the easement terms and conditions (I strongly suspect it is not), and ENB cannot rectify the problem (which I believe it cannot, except to build the tunnel ...more

You guys are applying sound logic and reason, but forgetting this is more of a political issue than an engineering or legal one. Politicians like Biden don't give a rat's a$$ that they signed these federal laws in the 70s and 80s, and neither does whitmer, because they think they can sway this in their favour by virtue of an agenda of fearmongering. Not only that, but the judges presiding ...more
