Great to see a new 52 week high!

I thought so too, sold everything I had left. Have been a real long term holder of ENB, like 20 years, but tired of the pony ride and even a 6% dvidend doesn't make up for no capital appreciation the last 5 years. Had sold the first half at 54 a couple of months back. This will dive again after Dividend is paid out.

Hey Dean Very interesting on your sell. There definitely is a lot of drama with ENB and a fair amount with TRP as well but I'm more than happy to live with it. In fact, I think the midstreamers will continue to do very well again this year. Last week we sold all of our $70k of FIE ETF as it didn't really fit with us anymore. We spread the dough around including adding 190 shares of ENB ...more

Good to hear from you SargeX. I don't rule out buying some ENB back, but it won't be till it drops back to the $45 range. Seems to be the only way to get hte Dividends and some capital growth. There are a few long term hold stocks that I have started to trade more often, just because they seem range bound for so many years. I would rather pick up 20% in capital gains than the 6% dividend ...more

This IS Really FUNNY as THOSE ""GOOD OLDE DAYS"" HAVE to LOOK VERY MUCH Like March 2020__and HOW MANY of US Want THAT AGAIN eh !!!!!!!!!  ????????

Hey Dean Another very interesting comment on trading vs holding. There sure is a lot of volatility in stocks that used to be very steady-eddy. In the end after all the ups & downs, I guess it does amount to being steady.  :-) I still like being a buy & hold investor for almost all the portfolio but have always had some trading cash to "play" with. I find that approach to ...more

DeanEd " thought so too, sold everything I had left. " After the overhang of years fighting to get L3RP built finally gone and oil now firmly in the recovery stage you sell? ENB is going to 60.

Hey Autofocus, Had a full position in ENB. Sold 50% today. It entered overbought territory, Planning to sell the rest after SU reporting, which I think (and hope) will lift the entire energy sector. I have been in and out ENB a few times already. I found that is worth trading it. It's a great company GLTA!

Silkos, you actually think after good ER that ENB can return to 49ish levels? I hope you're wrong, lol.. but history has shown that this is possible. I'm hoping L3 will change the course of ENB and we will never see under 50s for the foreseeable future. But if your spidey senses are tingling, go for it! All the best

About where the s/p goes next? Historical data indicates it will probably move up a little bit more with the market, then drop. As you all know energy market is on fire. Including ENB. But the real story is the oil producers again. Anyway here is my thinking. I mentioned that I am waiting for SU to report. If SU results are good or great ENB will get a push, it's the tide that moves all ...more

You could be right, and then I will have left 8% on the table. I think it is going back to the 40s again before it heads to 60 as the next dividend date approaches..
Comment by Quintessential1 on Feb 02, 2022 2:47pm
$60 is optimistic.  It is also more than 8%... not counting the dividend. Go Enbridge! ;-)

It's a good system Dean, and makes a lot of sense.  That said, patterns usually work, until they don't.. but given the quarterly distribution of Enbridge relative to Keyera & Pembina, your system is plausible. It's odd that ENB would trend down $10 though (From $55 to $45) & trend up again simply to collect an .86c dividend.  The math makes no sense. Where do ...more

You are right, patterns work till they don't. One day it may not drop much post dividend. I agree the $10 swings on an 86 cent divy makes no sense at all but I learned a long time ago not to try to foiight the market. and I can happily live with it. Pipelines aren't getting built so long term this company has a future for at least a couple of decades. I don't try to forecast final SP ...more
