Army Corps opens lengthy environmental review of Line 5

"Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel, Democrats who campaigned on promises to close the 69-year-old pipeline, began to negotiate with Enbridge on a shorter timeline when they took office in 2019. But the company said it couldn't meet the governor's two-year timeline. "

This was a mistake IMO.  They should have  made every effort to meet this timeline and then paid any penalties for non-completion as they completed it.  It may have been cheaper.

The good news is nobody is questioning the need for Line 5 anymore and a shutdown is unthinkable.

I doubt it.  Dixon is going to run on anti-abortion and lose the women's vote on both sides a la Kansas. Not sure how tax payers are getting cheated.  Maybe you can elaborate? If she does that would make Line 5 a slam-dunk  Go Enbridge! ;-)

If Dixon is truly pro pipeline then yes..ok  but it is still going to cost more to build. So much time wasted in polictical issues and enviromentall hoax..

Cost more than a leak into the great lakes? Its worth it.  It never should have been there. ENB will fix it up and carry on...as usual. Go Enbridge! ;-)

A shutdown is unthinkable as long as she does't spring a leak... Quin wrote:""Gov. Any pipe can leak, anytime, anywhere.  This one is monitored more than any other, anywhere. Not worried. Go Enbridge! ;-)

Most definitely any pipe can leak anytime, anywhere, ESPECIALLY when they are 70 years old and well past their best before date. I'm sure it'll be fine though, not like there's ever been an anchor strike or anything of that nature...
