Any posters have a timeline to sell off fossil fuel stocks?

Sooner or later mankind will have to terminate it's use of fossil fuels, thus eventual sell off oil industry stocks, including pipelines. My thoughts are to sell Enbridge once interest rates start to decline and regardless, no later than the next couple years. Anyone else have a timeline to sell?

A year or two ago, I figured I'd start watching in 5 or so years. My current thinking is to maybe start thinking abouti it around 2030.  Most people are eventually going to realize that all this renewables stuff is a total flawed farce and fossil fuels will be needed for many years to come. My wife & I always buy in $5k increments and just added $5k to each of PPL, KEY, and ENB ...more

Then there's the other functions of oil.. acting as lubricants, refrigerants, plastics for ...more

Albatross - generally agree with your points I agree that we will need for a long time into the future.  That said, there are alternatives to oil use such as EVs in transportation, Government policy reducing the need for plastics and use of such things as recycled plastic to make clothes.  This will limit future use of oil. On the otherhand, increasing use of EVs will require more ...more

To change the diesel-electric locomotives to electric ones, as the Europeans did(still not 100% yet) the cost of it would be astronomical. Electric lines and poles from coast to coast!!! Only the mental deficients of Ottawa could dream of that.

There would be other options. I think they were considering something like a hydrogen fuel cell train or something like that. The tech needs to be advanced a bit further. There's also the bio-diesel option as well. All that dead matter that collects in forests at risk of catching fire (as forests do naturally from time to time) could be harvested to create a bio-fuel feedstock to run the ...more
