Smoothwater can get choppy: After being rebuffed in attempts to reach an agreement with Genesis, Smoothwater launched a proxy battle, proposing a slate of directors for the company. Genesis countered with a court challenge, and succeeded in winning a ruling postponing the vote. The battle was settled in August with Genesis agreeing to add two of Smoothwater's proposed director nominees ...more

I am a former shareholder who believed that Nick could emulate the mortgage lending model of Home. When he was let go, I sold.  I listened to the last call. Very lightweight, I am glad not to be holding with current magt. The proxy fight is s real ugly way to go.  If Smooth strikes a deal with the current board, I doubt it will work. There are really bad feelings floating around. If they ...more

The GDC deal resulted in an ...more

They are firing fairly aggresive language at each other. The set the record straight pr is brutal. Neither side seems to be conducting themselves well. I will wait for the vote. Nick back, I will give ...more

I've never held stock in EQI but I hold several thousand shares in GDC. Based on my experience with the Smoothwater/GDC deal I wish I had avoided that purchase because the market value of GDC has done nothing since Smoothwater got involved. The bottom line is Stephen Griggs is no Carl Icahn so don't expect the same results as Icahn gets.

What I like about Smoothwater is their style which involves having plenty of skin in the game.
