RE:RE:Belo Sun vs. Euro Sun

RE:RE:Belo Sun vs. Euro SunRomania is a beautiful country and has a lot of natural resources. The history of Romanian natural resources being appropriated  and not benefitting the populace is long and tragic.  Romanians are quite aware of this history and the government has to respect that people want in terms of environmental protection and benefits to the country. Mining got a black eye around 2000 with a huge cyanide spill that polluted water supplies as well as the Danube River al the way to Hungary.

The came Gabriel Reources which needed to relocate entire villages and historic artifacts as well as essentialily flatten a mountain in order to develop their project in Rosia Montana.

So, yes, Romania is 'risky' in that there are no guarantees (as with Canada and other enviromentally sensitive locales) that finding a resource means being able to develop it.

Rovina is in a beatiful location as well but the mine would not be as disruptive to the environment (outside of the big hole in the ground) or communities as in other locations.

So yes, Brazil due to its' immense size and economic problems is probably safer than Romania.
The Amazon Rainforest is another matter though. The Amazon jungle really can and does effect the climate and has already suffered tremendous destruction and disruption of the lives of indigenous people. I would not want to be trying to build a mine there.

The Rovina project has already undergone public scrutiny and passed. I am confident that Rovina will move forward and eventually, be developed.

With regard to mining in general, everyone here knows that it is a hard, dirty business, but is an absolutely necessary industry. Without mineral resources there would be no high tech. However, the industry is evolving and becoming cleaner, performing better post mining reclamation and employing better and safer technolgies. ESM will not use cyanide for instance and if you follow Robert Friedland at all he is working on magnetic pulse ore separation which is cleaner and also much more energy efficient than traditional methods.

At any rate, that's my take on it and I think we're good here.
