Investment Book Recommendations

So, Beaner , you have piqued my interest in finding a good investment /market book to read this summer while camping in Jasper National Park...
Would say that the "Investment Checklist by Micheal Sheam" would be a good read for any type of experienced investor?

Is there any other suggestions or recommendations of good reads that members may want to share?

Lots of time spent in Jasper area . Indigo , for us It doesn't get any better than Jasper.

Yes Ace, I would say the book would be of interest for any level of Investor experience. The actual name is "The Investment Checklist - The Art of In Depth Research" by Michael Shearn. In depth is an understatement, this guy takes DD to another level probably more so than I would undertake in most instances. Nevertheless, if one applies even 75% of what he suggests, chances are they ...more

You are welcome sir! Yeah, I was actually shocked at the amount of work Michael puts in before he makes a decision on whether or not to invest in a company. At the same time, I can't argue with his approach. As I mentioned in an earlier post, there are no shortcuts to successful investing. Believe me, I have learned that the hard way. I'm sure everyone on this Board puts in the time before ...more

Beaner , the book is sold out everywhere. Must be a popular read. ....Gotta look for another money read before heading to Jasper.

Hey Ace, I downloaded the book to my IPad from Amazon. I will gladly try and loan it to you electronically if you like. I have never attempted this but pretty sure it can be done. Will likely need your email address though. Let me know if you want me to give it a shot.

Great idea to purchase a download from Amazon , Beaner. Thanks for the offer and much appreciated. I'll look into buying electronically to my pad. If not ,  I'm thinking might just go and buy an E-Reader and purchase the digital version to download.  Should be well worth it .  Beaner , thanks again.

You are more than welcome man! The book must be selling, I noted the electronic version is currently running 56 damn bucks. I think I paid $34 and I thought that was steep. Enjoy your trip to Jasper!

I saw what the price of the book was on a computer at Chapters... $59. I was going to order it but it wouldn't arrive before leaving this weekend. Thanks for your well wishes.

Ace, Here is a recommendation from a great poster on another board: Yes newcoin. I remember Yours is a generic question I'd be happy to answer. The book I recommended was Arthur Hailey's The Moneychangers. It won't give you any insights as to successful investing strategies, but it's a great book that exposes the dark side of finance, and in some respects the markets. It's not ...more

Thank you for passing this on ... Newcoin , as you would know , we are both members on other common boards... Which board did you reclaim this fine book recommendation ? Also, may I ask who , the great poster may be , that made the enjoyable book read recommendation in the first place?  Ace

Certainly. This recommendation comes from 'tamaracktop' on the XEBEC board.

For me personally the best investing book has to be Peter Lynch's "One Up on Wall Street"...actually anything Peter writes or has put on youtube is great. A big portion of my portfolio is dedicated to his "garden concept". Peter actually had a massive number of stocks in his fund. He likened the concept to gardening. You plant a bunch of seeds and water and fertilize the ...more

To all who have contributed on the Exro board.  At the quiet times for Exro , this thread has yielded quite a number of personal favorite book recommendations by several of the members. Even some suggestions were relayed from other members on other boards , which has been noted and thanked. You know who you are.  Of course most ,  that appreciate a good " money " read ...more
